FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

What Does CNM Stand For?

CNM Stands for Citizen News Media.  CNM News Network is comprised of citizen journalists and guest bloggers. Our writers write mainly for the love of writing and sharing information. If you are a writer who wants to share information, simply send us a post to consider and we will feature it as a Guest Blogger piece. We are not affiliated in any way, shape, or form with CNN or any other media site.  We are independently owned.

What are your Future Plans for CNM News Network?

We hope that CNM will become the go-to place to read about the news from a different perspective. We want this to become somewhere everyone can go to share information, even if they don’t have journalistic backgrounds or writing experience.

Why didn’t my comment show up? I’ve posted before and they’ve shown up immediately!

We have filters set up to moderate comments that have certain terms, keywords, and characters.  This is to enrich the user experience.  Comments will be posted after they are moderated, but if comments contain hate language or profanity they will be deleted. Check the “about us” page for more information on our comment policy.

Help! My Email Address Shows Up on the Comment Form! Get it off – I don’t want this information to be public.

Rest assured when you fill out the comment section on the site, your email address is not made public. However, you will see it in the comment form.  This information is saved on your computer so that you don’t have to fill it out each time you comment.  To remove it, clear your cookies and browser cache. We recommend you do this every time you use a pubic computer.

Where is CNM Headquartered?

CNM News Network is headquartered where our founder and financial backer is from – Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Jonesboro is a city in Northeast Arkansas approximately 90 miles northwest of Memphis, Tennessee and 120 miles northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas.  Our writers come from all over, but most come from the AR-TN-MS area. We are hoping to expand our writer base to include other cities across the US.

I want to write for you. Do you pay, and if so how much?

If you want to write for us, send us a sample.  Currently, we don’t have paid positions. As the site grows we are hoping that can change. However, we are writing and sharing information simply for the love of doing so.

What are the requirements for my post to be accepted?

To be posted on our site, your post must be at least 225 words, be about a timely, relevant news event and be written in English.  Posts must be natural sounding and cannot be key-word stuffed. Write the post as if you are talking to a friend.

Pieces should be without bias.  Pieces with a strong bias may still be posted, but they will be posted under our “Living” section, which is not included in Google news.

I have a web site too! Will you link to me if I link to you?

No. We do not cross-link.  We may not reply to your email if you ask us this – this isn’t to be rude.  This is not because we do not like your site, it’s because that is against Google’s TOS. Please only link to our site if you use us as a reference in your own work. Likewise, we only link to sites we use as reference for our work as well.

Do you have a phone number? What is it?

Yes, we have a phone number. It is 870-933-9817

Can I advertise on your site?

We are in the process of setting up our site so that we can service third-party ads. Email us if you are interested in placing your ad on our site. Currently, we only have 300X250 ads available.

Can I post your articles on my site?

In a word, no. However, you can post the first paragraph of our work with a link back to our site to read the rest.  Our articles are copyrighted.

Will you post my press release/product review/etc?

Yes, we will publish your press release or product review. Please note that these items will go in our “Living” section and will not be crawled by Google News.

You have an error in your post. Will you correct it?

If you think we have an error in our post, please email us! We are all human and can make typos and errors. We will correct legitimate errors as soon as possible.  We do have an editorial process, but appreciate the extra eyes from our readers.

I’m a Photographer. Will you use my photos on your posts?

If you have pictures you want us to use on our posts, please email them to us at c.news@ymail.com.  Also include your name and copyright information. To be included with a post, the photograph must be relevant.

I am a freelance videographer. Will you post my video on your site?

If you shoot your own news footage, we will include your video on our site.  Please make sure you have an embed code – easiest way to get one is to upload your footage through YouTube. Along with your embed code, please write a 225 or more word synopsis of the story you are covering.

As CNM grows, we would like to include more of this type of journalism. If you can regularly provide this type of reporting, contact us. This is unique from simple text-only posts, so payments may be available.
