Olympic Hockey Bracket 2010: Americans at #1 Slot Going in to Rest of Tournament.  The Olympic Hockey Bracket 2010 has been something that many hockey fans have been anticipating since the beginning of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. 

Team USA has a lot of reason to be excited, as they have the #1 slot going in to the rest of the week.  They won’t have to face up against Canada again unless the two teams once again face off in the Gold medal match.  Of course, both teams will have to defeat the Russians, Germans, and Slovakia before making it to those final rounds.

Sweden got the #2 slot, followed by Russia for #3.  Finland and the Czech Republic got the 4^th and 5^th slots, respectively, followed by Canada at slot #6.

Slovakia, Switzerland, Belarus, Norway, Germany, and Latvia hold the 7-12 slots in that order. 

Because of Sunday’s victory, Team USA will have an easier route to the gold than they would if they would have lost the game against Canada.  Canada must meet up with and beat Germany and Russia – perhaps even Sweden.

The US will most likely play again on Wednesday against the winner of the Switzerland vs. Belarus match.   If they beat that team, then the US will head into the Semi-finals.
