Vancouver Olympics 2010: American Medal Updates

February 15th, 2010

Vancouver Olympics 2010: American medal updates.  The Vancouver Winter Olympic games are here, and there are many people right here in the states that are wondering where our country stands in terms of medal wins.  America typically walks away with a lot of gold, silver, and bronze because we have so many incredible athletes competing for us.

Here are the American Medal updates as of February 15, 2010 at approximately 10:00 AM EST.

America has won 6 medals: one gold, two silver, and three bronze.  We reported yesterday about America’s first gold – Hannah Kearney, a ladies mogul contestant that shut out the runner up by a point.  Read more about her phenomenal win here.

The two silver medals went to Johnny Spillane and Apolo Anton Ohno.  Spillane competed in the Nordic Combined – Individual NH/10 km CC and Ohno won his medal in the Men’s 1500m Short Track Speed Skating.

The three bronze medalists include Bryon Wilson, Shannon Bahrke, and JR Celski.  They competed in the men’s moguls, ladies’ moguls, and short track speed skating 1500m, respectively.

With many more games to go, there’s still a lot of room for American gold victories.  So far, France leads the pack with 2 golds – although America leads the pack for total medals awarded.

Today’s Olympic schedule includes the following medal events:

Ladies’ Cross Country Skiing 10km Free

Men’s Downhill Alpine Skiing

Men’s Cross Country Skiing 15km Free

There’s also a qualifying event on today’s docket – the Men’s Snowboard Cross qualification.
