Philippines Earthquake 2010 around Manila a 6.1 Natural Disaster and Quake Damage, Death Toll.  Today, a 6.1 earthquake hit the Philippines, making the island community only the latest victim to suffer from the recent quakes.  In addition to the Philippines, Haiti, Chile, the United States, Turkey, Russia, and Japan have all experienced quakes since the beginning of the year.

Of all the quakes, the earthquake in Chile was absolutely the worst, causing billions of dollars of damage and displacing millions. Haiti experienced devastation as well, especially around the Capital of Port-au-Prince.

The quake was felt in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Boac, Marinduque; 4.0 on the Richter scale in Batangas, A 3.0 in the cities of Makati Pasay, Manila and Lucban, Quezon and Dasmari nas.  Several other cities also felt the quake as a 2.0.

Located in the Pacific Rim, the Philippines isn’t a stranger to earthquakes.  Considering that Japan and Hawaii both have experienced tremblers in the past month it’s not all that shocking that this island chain would feel the effects as well.
As with any quake around an island, authorities and professionals will keep an eye out for potential tsunami threats.

Currently, there are no indications of any damage or injuries.
