Luge Crash Video and a Graphic, Violent Death

February 13th, 2010

Luge crash video and a graphic, violent death.  Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili’s luge crash video is the topic of many internet searches, as Olympic fans are curious as to what happened to cause his death.  He is the third competitor to die in the sport, the first two died during 1964 training.

So far, no one has died competing in the Olympics. It’s uncertain as to whether or not this will be the first year some tragedy like this will happen.  The luge where the crash took place is one of the fastest in the world, and many competitors are scared to try to go down it.

There are many Olympic contenders that have reported going in excess of 90 mph on the track that Nodar died on.

The opening ceremonies of the Olympics are underway, and even though today’s death put a damper on the celebratory mood, the night is sure to still be a very pleasing event.

The world premiere of “We are the World” is expected to take place.  This is a star studded music video that was created to help with the Haitian earthquake relief efforts.
