Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony Anticipation Builds

Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony anticipation builds, as winter sports enthusaists and Olympians gear up for this year’s events.  Hosted in Vancouver, the Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony is sure to please.

The event will be broadcast on NBC, starting at 7:30 PM.  Until February 28th, expect to see many exciting winter sports competitions.  Some of the events you can expect to see include

  • Figure skating
  • Bobsledding
  • Speed skating
  • Skiing (free style and Alpine)
  • Ice hockey
  • Snowboard
  • Cross Country skiing

Shaun White is snowboarder who recently had a nasty fall during the Winter X games.  You can read more about this by clicking here.  White is a favorite, and is expected to win big at this year’s Olympics.

One former Winter Olympian that should be in all of our thoughts this year is Nancy Kerrigan.  Kerrigan won the silver medal at the Lillehamer Olympics, after being attacked by a man hired by rival skater Tonya Harding.  Recently, Kerrigan’s father died. You can read about the tragedy here.

For many, the winter games are favored over the summer games.  There are many great sports and many great events to choose from.  Be sure to keep an eye on the schedule listed on the Olympic’s Official Web site to ensure that you don’t miss something you really want to see.
