Obama Healthcare Bill Explained 2010 and Discussion

Obama Healthcare Bill Explained 2010 and Discussion. Ever since Baracko Obama was even running for president, he was very vocal about healthcare in America. While it’s true that there is much room for improvement in our current model of healthcare, the discussions have raged through to a total re-haul of the system and the creation of something totally new.
We’ve heard the arguments and seen the frustration of both politicians and constituents. There are those who are all for the current proposed legislation and then there are those that are vehemently against any changes.
Protests, rallies, town hall meetings, and more have all centered around the idea of reform.
So what exactly does Obama’s healthcare bill entail? For starters, it will entail a lot of money – billions – if not trillions of dollars will be spent on reform. This comes at a time when many Americans are without work.
Obama’s plan would make it unlawful for an insurance company to deny an individual benefits. Currently, a company can refuse individual coverage to those with pre-existing conditions or poor overall health. This is in an attempt to make premiums cheaper across the board for healthier individuals. The companies need healthy individuals – as they pay in to the plan, but typically don’t file claims as much as those with certain conditions.
Although Obama cites that Americans want and need reform, his approval ratings are below 50%. Only 45% of Americans are supportive of the bill.
The “historical” vote will take place relatively soon. Politicians are currently rallying for votes, as earlier this week there weren’t enough to pass legislation.
What do you think about the current push for healthcare reform? Is it good or bad for the country?
