Daylight Savings Time 2010 and DST Spring Forward 2010 TODAY

March 14th, 2010

Daylight Savings Time 2010 and DST Spring Forward 2010 TODAY.  Daylight Savings Time (Daylight Saving Time) is here today.  Back in November, we got to gain an hour.  Today – March 14, those that recognize Daylight Saving time in the US lose an hour. Many are confused over when DST will take place, and we are here to tell you that it will transpire on March 14th – which is TODAY!.

That’s right – today at 2:00 am, the clocks automatically rolled to 3:00 am in many areas of the country. We lose an hour during the day, but it should stay lighter outside longer at night.

Daylight Savings Time has its roots back to the days of the railroad.  In the past, each locality set their own time and it was extremely hard for railroads to print schedules and keep up with the various times. Finally, enough was enough and time zones were set up that were uniform through the country.

Daylight Savings Time has been used on and off for a long time now.  The premise is that by allowing it to stay light outside longer at night, individuals will use less energy.

Not everywhere in the US observes Daylight Saving Time.  Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and American Samoa remain on Standard Time all year long.

Even though today is March 14 and we have lost an hour of our weekend, try to enjoy the day.  If you haven’t changed your clocks forward, do so now.
