iPhone JailBreak Legal – But Be Careful When you Do it!

July 28th, 2010

Is iPhone jailbreak a legal thing to do? After all, the word “jailbreak” in and of itself sounds sinister. However, the Library of Congress has liberated the iPhone, and all other phones for that matter, making it possible for users to have total control over their items. Perhaps the term shouldn’t be “jailbreaking” anymore…maybe it should just be “breaking”?

Even though it will be super awesome to be able to use your handset on virtually any carrier and download whatever apps you want, there is always a cost.  Hackers and other cyber criminals stop at nothing to get information.  What’s the best way to do that? Through downloading harmful software into the devices of unsuspecting consumers.

And now that there will be millions of excited customers wanting to break free of AT&T, download nudity on their iPhones (remember – the Apple app store banned nudity), and do whatever it is people find so necessary to do.  This is a new crop for criminals, who can offer up jailbreaking software which could possibly be used to steal your identity, information, or just spy on you.

When you are jailbreaking your iPhone, or other cell phone, be careful.  Don’t download software from an untrustworthy source, and know that there is a possibility that jailbreaking your cell phone could cause a decrease in the security of your information.
