Alice in Wonderland 2010 Box Office Movie Review and Trailer.  Tim Burton’s 2010 rendition of Alice in Wonderland has been the talk of the box office this weekend.   Some reports indicate that the movie could beat out some records set by Avatar.

MTV reports that the film brought in $116 million domestically during opening weekend, shattering the record for a March opening set by “300″ in 2007.  The $116 million bankroll was also enough to slip the film into the #1 slot for the weekend, with the second runner up bringing in $13 million.

Various reviews have surfaced over the weekend, and for the most part they are mixed.

The original books by which the popular Disney cartoons are based are actually darker than the Disney cartoon portrays.  Tim Burton is the perfect creative spirit that can capture that darkness and turn it into something of a mystical journey.

Johnny Depp is also a great actor, and was an excellent choice for the lead as the Mad Hatter.

Only 53% of the reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes gave the film positive ratings.  However, there are many films that aren’t critically acclaimed but are still a hit with the general public.  On the other side, there are loads of movies that have been given rave reviews by the critics – but are far from well recepted by the viewing public.

If I were a filmmaker, I would be more concerned with the box office totals than the reviews.
