Alice in Wonderland Reviews 2010 and Box Office Opening Weekend. Alice in Wonderland’s opening weekend is really exciting. Tim Burton’s rendition of the popular children’s story is unforgettable, and available in 3D. The star of the movie is Johnny Depp, who has worked with Burton before in movies such as “Edward Scissorhands.”
According to Walt Disney Alice in Wonderland raked in $41 million on its opening day in theaters. The buzz over the box office totals will continue, and will be a wonderful additon to Oscar news.
Roger Ebert, the acclaimed film critic who hasn’t spoken in four years due to a botched surgery, watched and reviewed the movie. Ebert recently had a device developed to allow him to speak again, and his voice was heard once more on Oprah. You can read the details here.
Ebert gave Alice in Wonderland three stars, but didn’t like the Hollywood Ending. He also didn’t think that the 3D effects added to the viewing excitment. However, if you have small kids you know that the 3D effects are always a welcomed addition to any film.
Some reviewers didn’t enjoy the film, and missed the whimsical feel of the Disney cartoon. However, some have noted that the original book from which the cartoon was based was a darker theme and feel.
Despite negative and lackluster reviews, moviegoers are flocking to the theaters to see this show. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp both have a lot of big fans. If you like either of these professionals, you will likely love Alice in Wonderland.
