Rush Limbaugh to Judge 2010 Miss America Pageant

January 30th, 2010

Rush Limbaugh, the controversial conservative radio show host and well known critic of feminism is going to judge the Miss America Pageant this year.  Luckily, he will also share the role with other individuals, including Vivica A. Fox, Miss America 2002 Katie Harman, 2008 Olympic gold medal winner Shawn Johnson; musician Dave Koz, comedian Paul Rodriguez, and American Idol finalist Brooke White.

Having Limbaugh judge the “scholarship pageant” is somewhat of a strange decision on behalf of the pageant.  Previously, Limbaugh has been quoted as saying that “Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society.”

Of course, it’s doubtful that unattractive women will be contestants of the Miss America pageant. However, it’s not really surprising that Limbaugh would jump at the chance to take part in this type of event.

After all, doesn’t he live to criticize? One can only imagine the controversial comments that he will make about the contestants.

What is the motive to have Limbaugh as a judge for the event? After all, the Miss America pageant has experienced slipping ratings over time.  In addition, Limbaugh is one of the most widely listened to radio show hosts in the country.  Perhaps his “fan base” will result in more people watching the pageant.
