Unemployment Extension 2010 and HR4213, Tier 5, Tax Extenders Bill Updates. Of importance to many Americans is the unemployment extension bill – aka the “Tax Extenders Bill”.  This bill will keep the temporary federal tiers 1-4 of unemployment benefits intact.  Previously, the benefits extension expired on June 2nd and the Senate failed to pass the extension before breaking last week for the Memorial Day holiday.

Now, the Senate is back in session and the unemployment extension is something that many want to make sure that is passed soon.  The bill that contains this provision also contains an extension of  COBRA subsidies and medicare reimbursements for physicians – among other things.

The Senate hasn’t passed the version of the bill that was passed in the House.  It’s expected that with the passage the bill will change enough so that it will have to go back through the House before making it to the President’s desk to sign.

Given politics as usual and other issues such as election concerns, the oil spill, and everything else going on – this could take a bit longer than just a few days to accomplish.

According to the Huffington Post, the bill won’t be passed until sometime next week, leaving over 300,000 Americans without a paycheck at the worst time – the first of the month.

We will keep you updated about the unemployment situation until it can be satisfactorily resolved.  Ideally the economy needs to create jobs in order to make all of this better.
