American Idol 2010 Recap: 10 Top Female Contestants Perform.  Tonight is the second time that we have seen the top ladies perform during Season 9 of American Idol.  Typically, they would have performed yesterday but Crystal Bowersox was in the hospital and the show flip-flopped the guys and the girls.

How did the change affect the show? There were plenty of great performances.  Here are some of the highlights:

Crystal Bowersox – she performed a song by CCR and despite being ill, showed us a great performance.  Simon even compared her to Kelly Clarkson

Katie Stevens sang “Put Your Records ON”: she’s got a great voice and is losing some of that robotic goofiness.  Could she make it to the top? You decide.

Lilly Scott sang “A Change is Gonna Come” She performs with her eyes closed more than anyone.  She sounds great and has an indie vibe that everyone likes.

Siobhan Magnus sang “Think.”  She was a little wishy-washy through the lyrics, but could hit the high notes stronger than anyone else. Simon noted that the high notes were the only good thing about her performance.

Haeley Vaughn sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.  She didn’t use a guitar, which sort of tripped her up a bit.  Simon said she was a mess, and the other judges noted that her voice isn’t strongly developed yet and that her pitch was a little off.

Lacey Brown sang “Kiss Me” and was called “adorable” and “marginally better than last week.” Is she teeter-tottering on the verge of going home?

DiDi Benami sang “Lean on Me” and didn’t get the positive results from the judges that she thought she would get.  She almost bust in to tears from the critiques she got from the judges.

Michelle Delamour sang “With Arms Wide Open” and tried to cast it into an R&B ballad.  Randy noted that she missed her boat, and Ellen said it was her favorite “Michelle” performance ever.

Katleyn Epperly played “The Scientist” by Coldplay. She played piano for herself and totally transformed from how we saw her before.  Simon thought it was a little corny, and Kara noted that the hopeful needs to figure out who she is.

Paige Miles sang “Walk Away” and received some feedback from the songwriter herself – Kara.  Kara said she was having “too much” fun with the song. Simon called the performance “forgettable.”
