American Idol 2010 Crystal Bowersox Diabetes Scare and Performance.  Things were a little hectic at American Idol this week.  The 10 top men were set to perform on Wednesday, when female contestant Crystal Bowersox was rushed to the hospital, presumably from diabetes complications.

It wasn’t certain whether or not Bowersox would make it to the show tonight, and many were wondering if it was going to cause her to be eliminated from the show.  However, it didn’t come down to that as the highly popular contestant made it to the stage.

Singing CCR’s “As Long as I Can See the Light”, the contestant not only nailed her performance, but sent a message out to the world that it would take a little more than just some “medical issues” to get this contestant down.

Crystal Bowersox set her place as probably the best contestant on the female side.  Could it be that she will be the next American Idol? Although anything could happen, she’s definitely one of the front-runners for the final reports.

Simon Cowell – typically the pessimist – compared the singer to Kelly Clarkston, one of the most influential and popular of all Idol winners.

Simon Said verbatim “What’s great about you is that you didn’t play the whole sympathy thing, you chose a great song. I have to tell you something, Crystal: I completely underestimated you last week, because for you to come back this week with that song, that performance … I promise you, this was like the moment we realized with Kelly Clarkson that we’ve got a serious artist here. And I think we’ve got a really serious artist with you.”

There were plenty of other great performances tonight, but Crystal’s story is inspirational.  She didn’t let her illness get her down, and she didn’t take advantage of a situation where she could have gotten by with taking a week off with possibly little repercussions.
