Oil Spill Gulf of Mexico Pictures, Photos are Devastating. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been going on for over a month now, and the devastation from the oil slick is simply horrifying. There are wetlands, ecosystems, entire industries, and lots of marine life that have been threatened by the damage.
Many people want to see the photos of the spill because they cannot make it all the way down to the Gulf to witness it firsthand. There are a variety of different photos to witness. There are photos of the oil slick covering wetlands, oil covering the water, oil covered birds, and aerial photos of the sheer massive nature of the oil slick.
The amount of damage from the oil spill is debatable. The BP officials claim that it is only 6 million barrels of oil or so that have come into the water. On the other hand scientists estimate that the spill is more like 11 million barrels of oil. People don’t now who to believe.
The most recent attempt to end the gushing oil spill is known as the “top kill” method which uses mud and cement to “plug” the leak. Efforts to contain the spill in this manner went on through the night, but the success won’t be determined until later.
