Kwame Kilpatrick Sentencing 2010- Ex Detroit Mayor Receives Sentence. Chances are there are a lot of you out there who didn’t know that Kwame Kilpatrick was the mayor of the city of Detroit.  Recently the former mayor  got in trouble because he violated his parole by lying under oath.

That is something you should never do…and now it’s cost him big time.  Kwame is looking to 18 months to five years in prison for his sentence, which stems from abusing the money in the city of Detroit coffers.

In addition, Kwame also became unemployed.  He was working a job at Compuware in Detroit, and because of the legal mishap he is going to lose his job

Kwame tried to push for probation, but the judge told him that the ship had sailed, and that he had to serve a prison sentence.  The judge was particularly upset about a period in time where Kwame and his family lived in a large home in Dallas and drove expensive cars on the city of Detroit’s dime.

During the sentencing, Kwame Kilpatrick looked extremely sad, although we can’t figure out if he’s sad that he got caught or sad that he even committed the crime in the first place.

What do you think about Kwame Kilpatrick’s sentencing? Do you think that 1 1/2 years to 5 years in prison is a long time?
