Lil Wayne Sentencing Date Delayed Again Because of Court Fire
March 2nd, 2010
Lil Wayne Sentencing Date Delayed Again Because of Court Fire. Rapper Lil Wayne was due to be sentenced in February for a weapons charge he incurred stemming from an incident in New York City in 2007. Sentencing was previously delayed because the rapper needed to have work done on his teeth. Yesterday, on the way to the courthouse he learned that his court date was postponed – again. This time, it was due to a fire at the court house.
The fire injured 8, including 5 firefighters. Wayne is said to be disappointed and frustrated with the pushback in his date. He is expected to spend a year behind bars, and has already completed his farewell tours.
Despite his legal issues, the rapper still has a very loyal fan base. People couldn’t get enough of his hit mixtape, “No Ceilings” and there’s been a lot of hype surrounding his new rock-inspired album “Rebirth”, which was released this month even though Amazon inadvertently sent copies out early in January.
After he is released from jail, Lil Wayne will be welcomed back into the hip-hop scene. As one of the most influential musicians in the industry, many are outraged that he even has to go to jail.
There’s no immediate word as to when Lil Wayne’s sentencing will take place.
