Andrew Koenig Cause of Death and autopsy Apparently Suicide. 1980’s sitcom co-star and son of an original Star Trek cast member Andrew Koenig was found dead in Stanley Park in Vancouver after being missing since around Valentine’s Day. Koenig was reported missing after missing a plane back to LA, and those close to him feared the worst.
Authorities remained positive and claimed that “electronic evidence” pointed to the possibility that he was really “laying low” and avoiding contact with the outside world. His erratic behavior – such as giving away most of his belongings and paying the final rent on his Venice apartment without his parents’ knowledge painted a different possibility. However, Andrew had previously told his friends that he was going to “start over” in Vancouver.
Unfortunately, everyone’s worst nightmares came true and Andrew Koenig was found dead. Now, his autopsy is in the works and a preliminary cause of death is starting to circulate through the press. While the Vancouver police wouldn’t release a cause of death when his body was found because of a pending autopsy, his father, Walter Koenig, said that his son took his own life.
A search party of about 11 friends and family members was searching densely wooded areas of Vancouver’s Stanley Park when they found Andrew Koenig’s body hanging from a tree. It has been reported that based on the location of the body found, Koenig didn’t want to be found.
Authorities haven’t issued an official cause of death pending the completed autopsy, but foul play has been ruled out. An “official” cause of death will not be available for several weeks, as a full toxicology report will be performed on his body.
Those close to Andrew Koenig urge anyone suffering from depression to seek help.
