Lindsey Vonn Crash Video 2010 Olympics Giant Slalom Snafu. The US Ski team suffered a setback when Lindsey Vonn crashed for the second time during the 2010 Olympic games, messing up not only her chance at a medal but that of her teammate, Julia Mancuso as well. A video of the crash showcases Vonn slamming in to a safety net.
The snow on the Giant Slalom is slicker than the snow on a regular track. This is because it is infused with water, which makes the are slightly icy. Coming down the track, Vonn let her outside ski slip into loosely packed snow, which pulled her off her path and into the safety net.
Julia Mancuso had to turn around and do a late start, which could cost the defending champion her shot at an Olympic Gold.
It was believed that Vonn broke her wrist during her spill. She went to the hospital and there is no fracture, so it looks as if she may still compete as planned on Friday.
Video of the crash is located on the Vancouver 2010 Official Web site. Videos pop up on YouTube, but are typically taken down after copyright claims roll in.
The crash is Vonn’s second of the Olympic Games. If she competes on Friday as planned, hopefully she won’t fall again.
