Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico 2010 Amazing Pictures, Photos, and Satellite Images.  Besides the 11 missing workers presumed dead after the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the most devastating thing about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is how it is affecting the environment.

It’s been said that the oil spill will be set ablaze to combat the spill from reaching shores.  If the oil spill reached shores, it would further negatively impact coastal marine ecosystems.

Many are fearful that the oil spill will cause the price of seafood to rise.  Of course, there won’t be as big a supply of shrimp and other sea creatures, as they tend to migrate when they sense oil in the water.

In addition, if oil gets on to an animal, fish, or sea creature it can kill them. Experts are trying to avoid this scenario as much as they can, and the reason that they are burning off the oil is to avoid further damage to the coastal areas.

The devastation is mounting, and the spill is already bigger than the state of Rhode Island .  See the photographs of the oil spill for yourself, and you can only imagine the devastation.
