Breast Cancer: Bitter Melon Extract Could Aid in Treatment

Breast Cancer: Bitter Melon Extract Could Aid in treatment. While alternative cures for maladies such as breast cancer are abundant and don’t typically work, researchers indicate a promising new treatment. The treatment doesn’t include toxic drugs, needles, or even pills. The answer to breast cancer cure – or at least treatment – could lie in bitter melon extract.
It may sound a little odd, but bitter melon is a common food in Latin America, India, and China. In some of these cultures, the extract of the bitter melon is used to treat diabetes because it is known to lower blood sugar.
In the laboratory, the extract appeared to kill breast cancer cells, without harming normal breast cells. It’s crucial to stress that the test was not performed on humans, rather in a lab setting.
Doctors remain guarded and indicate that they doubt that bitter melon extract is the “cure” for cancer, but are optimistic that it could at least offer some form of prevention or treatment.
A vegetable based diet including foods such as the bitter melon could be used to help prevent cancer. Currently, it is recommended that individuals maintain a healthy weight, limit alcohol intake, and eat a well rounded diet in order to stay healthy.
